Base oil is known as a base for the production of lubricants. The most important volume component of lubricants is base oil. Base oils can be obtained from petroleum or non-petroleum sources. Most of the world’s base oils are obtained from crude oil refining. The main components of base oil are paraffinic, naphthenic and aromatic compounds.
The base oils obtained from the purification of used (burnt) oils by different methods are called recycled or re-purified oils.
Base oil is recycled by acidic and non-acidic or distilled methods.
